Never once letting go of Alexandros’ hand Kaia weaved through the throng of people, away from her uncle. Kaia hoped he would not see Aea, or that she would see him first and be able to make a hasty retreat. At least Kaia knew Aea was safe. She would make some money in the ring and should she remain undetected by their uncle, she would no doubt find somewhere to buy herself a hearty meal for her efforts.
Spotting a barrel of wine, Kaia made for it and did not slow her advance until she was close enough to grab it. With a sigh of contentment, Kaia scooped her cup into the barrel and brought the now full cup to her lips. Kaia wasted no time in drinking deeply from her cup, before refilling it again. Only once she was content with her sudden intake of wine, did she turn her attention back to Alexandros.
She was disappointed to be missing the rest of the fight, as well as the chance to fight herself, but she was otherwise pleased. She had a full cup of wine and handsome company. So long as she continued to avoid detection from the men in her family, she would be happy.
“I’m sorry to drag you away from the fighting ring. Perhaps some other time,” Kaia mused, pausing long enough to take another sip of her wine, relishing in it as if she would never drink another drop again.
“If my uncle or father see me here, they’ll take me back to camp before hunting you down,” Kaia joked in order to make light of the situation, though there was some truth to her words. Agolois would not be pleased to see her alone with a young and attractive man, unsupervised.
Taking a moment to become accustomed to the warm numbness from the wine, Kaia let her gaze bounce around. She could barely tell the rich from the poor, given how little most of the festival goers were wearing. Despite the surprising nakedness, Kaia was pleased at the sight of people not being identifiable by their class.
Content, Kaia turned her gaze back to Alexandros expectantly. “So, what next?”

One moment Alexandros was watching the fight preparing to respond and continue their conversation, the next his shoulder was nearly rent from its socket. While he quite enjoyed the feeling of Kaia’s hand within his own, he had not anticipated a few brief swears and then to be off in a sprint. His thoughts raced as they ran, trying to place how and why she would have startled so. He wanted to speak, to know what had happened to spook her, but he decided that he rather liked his tongue where it was and wanted no part in the chance that he would bite it as he ran. When they finally came to a stop, he took several moments to catch his breathe, watching as she drank heavily from her cup. With his breathe back, he too filled his cup, waiting to hear an explanation for their sudden flight. He had anticipated at least meeting this cousin before they left. It seemed that their wager and their previous conversation was at an end, and things would have to move forward from here, which was fine as far as he was concerned.
“I’m sorry to drag you away from the fighting ring. Perhaps some other time. If my uncle or father see me here, they’ll take me back to camp before hunting you down,”
He smiled softly before he took another drink from his own recently refilled cup of wine. “I appreciate your concern for me, but I’m not sure that your uncles or father would be enough. I would hate to see you dragged away, there is still so much more to do tonight, wouldn’t you say?” He closed the distance between them, pulling her tightly to his chest and kissing her far deeper than the last time. The wine was making him bolder as well, what little inhibition the man had was falling by the wayside. He wanted her, and he thought that she wanted him, so now they moved forward from here. After a long, passionate moment, he pulled away from her with a smirk.
“So, what next?”
“We have a camp set up not far from the city, I have a large tent, some nice soft furs, some wine and all night to spend with you, why don’t we see where it goes?” He smiled as he spoke, cheeks a soft red from the wine. His hands still clung to her waist as they had when he kissed her, and matched her stormy eyes with his own cerulean gaze. “I can promise there will be no more disruptions out there.” A smirk flickered across his face as he had an idea. “Besides, now that our wager is called off, I guess that makes us both winners. I shall give you a sword and teach you the basics, and then we shall explore the carnal pleasures of the flesh. Does that strike you as a fair deal? Wine, privacy, a sword, training, and as much pleasure as the night can hold?”

“I appreciate your concern for me, but I’m not sure that your uncle or father would be enough. I would hate to see you dragged away, there is still so much more to do tonight, wouldn’t you say?”
Kaia gave a coy smirk and a nod of her head, “of course, hence the speedy retreat.” Taking another sip of wine, Kaia tilted her head to the side and considered his expression and handsome features. She didn’t know what it was about dark hair and blue eyes that seemingly always caught her attention.
As Alexandros pulled her against him, Kaia’s smirk only intensified as one hand came to rest against his chest. She welcomed the kiss, relishing in the warmth of his lips, as well as the taste of wine that was still fresh. This kiss was more intent, not that Kaia had any complaints. Slinging her free arm around his neck, Kaia leaned up a little higher, her body buzzing with excitement and anticipation.
The kiss lasted for some time, melting away any prior concerns Kaia had about being discovered by her father or uncles. Aea was safe and having fun, which meant Kaia was free to do the same. When the kiss ended, Kaia smirked into her cup, taking a sip of wine to collect herself. She had no doubt that she would enjoy her time with Alexandros.
“We have a camp set up not far from the city, I have a large tent, some nice soft furs, some wine and all night to spend with you, why don’t we see where it goes?”
A tent would be nice, and soft furs. Kaia would have trouble leaving that set-up. Considering the state her uncle Cassero seemed to be in, she may even be able to risk staying the night. No doubt her uncles and father would be making the most of the evening and company too.
“I can promise there will be no more disruptions out there. Besides, now that our wager is called off, I guess that makes us both winners. I shall give you a sword and teach you the basics, and then we shall explore the carnal pleasures of the flesh. Does that strike you as a fair deal? Wine, privacy, a sword, training, and as much pleasure as the night can hold?”
“Well, it seems best that you lead the way,” Kaia agreed coyly, before reaching beside her to fill her cup one last time. She had to wonder though if he truly meant to give her a sword. If it were an innuendo, she would not be surprised, but she couldn’t help but think about owning an actual sword.
“Do you truly mean to give me a sword?” she asked, unable to help herself. She honestly was surprised by Alexandros’ generosity. Kaia nearly had to wonder if it was worth being nice to people for them to just give their things away instead of stealing, but then dismissed the thought. Even if it were true, Kaia only needed to think of her usual targets and knew there was no way she would be able to entertain them for a few obols. She was not a whore.
Knowing what lay ahead of her for the night, Kaia could already feel the thrum of excitement basically buzzing under her skin. As exciting as the festival was, Kaia was content to bid it farewell if it meant making good on the deal with Alexandros.

“of course, hence the speedy retreat.”
Alexandros smiled and took a drink from his cup as she spoke, and while he longed to know more about why she was afraid of being caught by her uncles and how she was treated by them, he decided it best not to ask. The chances of meeting again, despite all the pleasant teasing of the night, were astronomically low. A thought that disappointed him, but he could not shake. “Yes, I only hope that your cousin and the goat survive if they are caught without you. But let us not dwell on such things and make merry while we have the chance, what say you?” His smirk was back and he raised his cup before taking another drink from it.
“Well, it seems best that you lead the way,”
While he would soon lead the way back to their camp, the young officer first followed the lead of the huntress and refilled his cup with wine. He offered her his arm and hand once more as they prepared to make the short journey out of the city and to the campsite. “Of course, allow me to be your guide for the rest of the night. Once we reach the camp we’ll see what the Fates have ordained for us.” He smirked as he spoke, his eyes filled with a carnal hunger as he looked at her. The game had been played, and tonight, at least, both players would have all that they wanted.
“Do you truly mean to give me a sword?”
They had barely begun the short journey when she asked the question. The warrior had not considered that such an act would seem unusual to the huntress. He smiled softly as he began to speak. “Of course, I am a man of my word, my honor is the most important thing that I possess. If I did not intend to give you a sword, then I would not have said so. I have two that I do not often make use of, you shall have your pick between them. I think that is reasonable enough, don’t you?” He asked curiously. “Are you not used to men keeping their word when they make promises to you? If they have broken their word to you, dear Kaia, then someone should castrate them for not being man enough to keep their oaths. Dishonorable behavior sickens me to my core.”
It did not take long for the duo to reach the campsite that had been erected by the Colchian contingent for their stay in Taengea. There were several tents of varying sizes, the largest of which were situated in the center and belonged to the royals who had made the voyage. Just outside these largest tents set several slightly smaller tents. Alexandros led Kaia into one of these. It was large enough for them both to stand in, but the majority of the space was taken up by the furs that made his bed. Off to one side was a chest which contained his personal effects. On top of this chest sat several Drachmae, 2 skins of wine, and a necklace. “Well, it’s not much, but I call it home whenever I am away from Chaossis.” He said with a smile as he held the tent open for her.

Kaia smirked into her cup at his words. She was fairly certain there would be little need for assistance in guiding them that night. It was quite the way to celebrate the god of harvest, that was for sure.
“I feel the fates will be in our favour,” Kaia mused with a sly smile as she took his arm and let him lead her towards his camp. As they walked, Kaia threw a quick glance towards the fighting ring, but she was unable to see through the crowd of spectators. She hoped Aea would slip away undetected, or that her father and uncles would be too drunk and distracted to think to look for Aea or Kelosi.
At the mention of their wager and thus, Alexandros’ intention to give her a sword, Kaia was legitimately surprised and humbled by his generosity. If he were to have decided not to give it to her, she would have understood. Her own weapons were precious to her and she would not be able to part with them willingly.
“Of course, I am a man of my word, my honor is the most important thing that I possess. If I did not intend to give you a sword, then I would not have said so. I have two that I do not often make use of, you shall have your pick between them. I think that is reasonable enough, don’t you?”
The smile she gave him in that moment was a rare mix of honest joy. The fates truly were in their favour it seemed, for Kaia felt she was being graciously rewarded. Perhaps Artemis had been pleased with her most recent hunt and chose to show her favour. Whatever the reason, Kaia was thankful all the same.
“Are you not used to men keeping their word when they make promises to you? If they have broken their word to you, dear Kaia, then someone should castrate them for not being man enough to keep their oaths. Dishonorable behavior sickens me to my core.”
“I can’t say I have the pleasure of becoming too acquainted with men all that often to be able to give you a proper answer,” Kaia answered, her tone light and playful still, though there was truth to her words. “My father is a very honest man though.”
Before long the two of them reached the campsite. There were many tents in the area, but as they came to a stop in front of one, Kaia took stock of the makeshift structure. She could only imagine how much warmer it would be to sleep in a tent that had four closed sides.
As Alexandros led her inside, her stormy orbs bounced around the room. She could stand up comfortably, though the inside had mostly only enough room for Alexandros’ bed of furs and a chest. Despite the simplicity, it was still more luxurious than Kaia had ever been able to call her home.
“Well, it’s not much, but I call it home whenever I am away from Chaossis.”
“It’s nice,” Kaia murmured gently, her gaze now moving to examine how the structure was being held up. She wondered if there were not some way she could try to make something similar for camp, especially for the colder nights. She was not sure where she would find such fabric though that would be able to resist the rain.
Shaking the thought away for later musings, Kaia turned back around to face the handsome captain. The fact that they were both alone together was not lost on her, in fact she felt the stir inside her that alluded to the night to come. Kaia stepped closer towards him, purposefully not touching him, even though she was but a breath away. Instead, she gazed up at him with faux innocence as she drank from her cup.
“Well, now we’re here. What is first on your list to do, dear captain?”

“Of course, allow me to be your guide for the rest of the night. Once we reach the camp we’ll see what the Fates have ordained for us.”

“Well, now we’re here. What is first on your list to do, dear captain?”
“I feel the fates will be in our favour,”
"I think I have to agree with you there." The brown haired man said with a smile before taking a drink from his cup. "Although, I tend to believe that we make our own fates, rather than having someone else do it for us. What do you think? Is each of your arrows guided by some unseen force? Or is it your skill that results in whether or not you have meat for dinner?" He was curious to see what sort of philosophical views that the woman held.
“I can’t say I have the pleasure of becoming too acquainted with men all that often to be able to give you a proper answer,” Kaia answered, her tone light and playful still, though there was truth to her words. “My father is a very honest man though.”
Alexandros laughed as she spoke, a sly smile creeping across his lips. "Oh? Are you not as experienced as you've let on?" He said with a smirk. "I promise you, that I shall always keep my word with you, no matter what. I would ask the same in return, though. Will you promise to be honest and keep your word from this moment forward?"
“It’s nice,”
He watched as she took in the surroundings of the tent. He crossed the space of the tent and opened the chest, holding the few coins and the necklace to keep them from falling. He withdrew a pair of swords from the inside of the chest. Neither were fancy or ornate, both were simple, standard issue blades. One was the short, straight xiphos, and the other was a longer, curved kopis. "I told you that I would offer you a choice as to which of these you would like. Which would you prefer?" He asked as he held both of the swords out to her, holding them by the sheathe.
“Well, now we’re here. What is first on your list to do, dear captain?”
She was so close, and yet so far away from him. He took one long, last drink from his cup, emptying it. He dropped the empty vessel to the ground and then closed the short distance between them. His large, strong hands gripped her hips and he kissed her firmly upon the lips. "That depends entirely on you, my dear huntress. I can teach you the basics of the blade, or we can get out of these clothes and explore each other to the full extent of our pleasure. Which would you prefer?" He still held her close, hands on her waist, but he spoke softly, barely above a whisper, into her ear.

‘Although, I tend to believe that we make our own fates, rather than having someone else do it for us. What do you think? Is each of your arrows guided by some unseen force? Or is it your skill that results in whether or not you have meat for dinner?’
Kaia had always been a firm believer in Artemis. Perhaps Kaia didn’t practise all of the deity’s sacred values, but Kaia’s appreciation and eagerness to please was there all the same. She had not been punished so deeply yet, so she figured that she could not have angered the goddess of the hunt too severely. It was a careful topic though, one Kaia knew to tread lightly, for she did not want to invoke her goddess’ wrath now.
“I believe it is both. I have worked hard at my craft to ensure my success. I have also dedicated my practises to Artemis, for it is her who would show me favour or not. I would not earn her favour without the skill I have attained from years of work,” Kaia mused, hoping her answer would not offend the deity in any way. It was true though, Kaia felt she had to earn her goddess’ notice and approval, and was rewarded for her devotion. It was all she could do, since going to a temple to place offerings was not within her realm of ability.
’Oh? Are you not as experienced as you've let on? I promise you, that I shall always keep my word with you, no matter what. I would ask the same in return, though. Will you promise to be honest and keep your word from this moment forward?’
A sly smirk graced Kaia’s features as she took another sip of her wine. “I guess you shall find out,” she teased, before her expression resumed a little more seriousness. “Of course, I’ll be as honest as is within my power,” Kaia answered carefully. There were some things she could not tell him, no matter what promises she made, so it was best to avoid them. If luck would have it, those topics would be avoided in favour of more exciting and physical endeavours. However, where she could afford it, she would be truthful, she would keep her word in that. She would only be dishonest if she had no other option.
As Alexandros crossed the small space to rummage through his chest, Kaia couldn’t help but notice the necklace and coins. She had not come to rob Alexandros, but she would be a fool to return home empty handed. Kaia shook away the inherent instinct to take stock of where the belongings and exits were. Kaia busied herself with her wine and looked elsewhere until she saw Alexandros straighten up in the corner of her eye. As he approached her with the two swords, Kaia’s gaze darted between the two. Even while sheathed, they looked like they would far exceed her usual crude weaponry.
’I told you that I would offer you a choice as to which of these you would like. Which would you prefer?’
Kaia took her cup in her left hand so that she could grip the handle of the xiphos. Carefully, she pulled it free of its sheath and held it up in front of her, turning her wrist to examine the weight. It was heavier than she expected but she liked the balance of it. Kaia sheathed it carefully, before taking the kopis out to examine. Immediately, she noticed how top heavy the blade felt. Kaia turned the blade in front of her, learning how it moved. To compensate for the unbalanced weight, Kaia felt like her grip was far too tense; something to work on if she chose it, but a flaw all the same.
Returning the kopis, Kaia considered both, before taking the xiphos, making her decision. “I think this one would be most suitable,” she answered warmly, shooting him an honestly appreciative smile. “Thank you, I truly have no words to express my gratitude.”
As Alexandros drained his cup and dropped it, the coy smirk that graced Kaia’s features was inevitable. She too finished her cup, then let the cracked thing fall to the ground as well, freeing her hand as he took hold of her. Closing her eyes as he leaned in to kiss her, Kaia welcomed his lips onto hers, her fingers tracing down the contours of his chest.
The kiss only broke to allow Alexandros to speak barely above a whisper into her ear, his breath sending shivers down her spine, ‘that depends entirely on you, my dear huntress. I can teach you the basics of the blade, or we can get out of these clothes and explore each other to the full extent of our pleasure. Which would you prefer?’
Gods, how was she supposed to choose? Logically, she would be wisest to accept the lesson, especially while they were still somewhat dressed and sensible. Kaia highly doubted she would want to be roused from his bed once they settled there for the evening. However, her longing to explore Alexandros and his reputation as the ‘Breathtaker’ was incredibly tempting.
“I have promised to be honest with you,” Kaia breathed, her flat palm gliding back up his chest to rest upon his shoulder. “I would like nothing more than to give in to our desires, but I fear that if we do so now, we may never find the time or energy before dawn to undertake the lesson.”
Kaia leaned up and kissed him again, while convincing herself that she would be grateful later to leave her desires to be sated last.

The young officer nodded in understanding as she spoke. “I can sympathize with that perspective, I give prayers to several gods before battle, but I believe that it is my skill that decides the outcome. Otherwise what would be the point in honing our crafts? I may not be the most devout man, but I do take care to cover all of my flanks, so to speak.” He said with a soft smile as they continued.
“Of course, I’ll be as honest as is within my power,”
“That is all that I can hope for from you, thank you.” He said with a kind smile as they agreed to some form of honesty between them. He hoped that she truly meant what she said, but only time would tell.
“I think this one would be most suitable,” she answered warmly, shooting him an honestly appreciative smile. “Thank you, I truly have no words to express my gratitude.”
Alexandros replaced the kopis within the trunk, and turned back to face her. “I have to agree, the shorter, more generalized shape of the blade is much more suited to learning swordplay. It should also be easier to handle for you.” His smile had an almost proud look to it, as he was delighted that she had chosen what he thought to be the correct option. He supposed her instincts as a hunter must have helped her, which meant that she may well take to the blade easily.
“I have promised to be honest with you,” Kaia breathed, her flat palm gliding back up his chest to rest upon his shoulder. “I would like nothing more than to give in to our desires, but I fear that if we do so now, we may never find the time or energy before dawn to undertake the lesson.”
“You have been honest with me, and I have said that I would honor my word no matter what, so you shall have your lesson.” He said after the short kiss that followed her decision. “We should start at the very beginning. Draw your blade and take a natural stance. I wish to see what we are working with.” His words turned a bit more authoritative as he turned the tent into a drill pit. The tall man walked around the much smaller woman, making adjustments as needed to her. “Good, now let me see a thrust and a forehand cut.” He demonstrated the motions without a blade in his hand as he spoke, and then settled back to focusing on teaching Kaia.

“I believe it is both. I have worked hard at my craft to ensure my success. I have also dedicated my practises to Artemis, for it is her who would show me favour or not. I would not earn her favour without the skill I have attained from years of work,”
The young officer nodded in understanding as she spoke.

’I can sympathize with that perspective, I give prayers to several gods before battle, but I believe that it is my skill that decides the outcome. Otherwise what would be the point in honing our crafts? I may not be the most devout man, but I do take care to cover all of my flanks, so to speak.’
Kaia gave a thoughtful nod. She could understand his logic, but she also felt like the gods allowed only what pleased them. “What about those truly divine moments that can’t be explained? Would those moments not convince you that the gods are always watching us?” Kaia asked earnestly, though the few instances that came to her mind had less to do with hunting and more to do with narrowly avoiding harm during a raid.
As she chose her blade, Kaia was pleased to hear that Alexandros thought it was a good choice. She figured it would be the one she’d most likely get used to first, especially with how top heavy the other sword was. Not only that, but Kaia noticed the kopis had only one sharp side. Kaia’s daggers had two sharp edges, as did the newly gifted sword. She felt more at ease knowing that both edges of the sword could cut.
The temptation to give in and finally take pleasure in each other was overwhelming, but Kaia knew that she would not likely get a chance to learn how to wield the sword if she did not set time aside first. Even with her mind a little foggy, she could concentrate for now.
’You have been honest with me, and I have said that I would honor my word no matter what, so you shall have your lesson.’
The smile that swept over Kaia’s features was enthusiastic and determined.
’We should start at the very beginning. Draw your blade and take a natural stance. I wish to see what we are working with.’
Wordlessly, Kaia spread her feet apart, her left in front and her right foot back a bit. Kaia wanted to hold the sword in both hands, but knew from having seen her uncle fight, that she would need to hold the sword in her main hand only, so she did. Kaia’s brow drew down in thought as she gripped the handle. The blonde let Alexandros fix her stance and grip as he saw fit, her mind lingering on his touch a little longer than it should have.
’Good, now let me see a thrust and a forehand cut.‘
The change in tone was very fitting of a captain. Kaia could more easily imagine him in the role, even with his risque festival attire. Watching his demonstration, Kaia did the same, taking note of how the weight of the sword moved as she did so.
Once she’d done his instructed movements, Kaia flicked her gaze back up to his, awaiting his feedback.

“What about those truly divine moments that can’t be explained? Would those moments not convince you that the gods are always watching us?”
“I don’t know that I’ve ever seen any moments like those, and the two that are closest were great tragedies. They may well watch everything, but how would we know? How could we tell that they were watching and intervening in our actions? I will do what I must not to anger them, but I live as if it my own ability that shall make the difference in the battle, for I see no other way to do so.” The conversation had grown deep between them. The huntress and the warrior discussing theology while they were both drunk, no one would have expected that.
Alexandros circled her as she took her stance, his eyes drifted from the necessary corrections to more enticing places, but he maintained his commitment to teaching her. He took a look at her grip, and decided this was a good place to start speaking his instructions. “There are several ways to hold a sword, I prefer to grip mine with the thumb and forefinger on top of the guard, but that might not work for you, if you keep your entire hand on the grip, you lose some finesse with the blade, but have a more secure hold, a middle ground is to wrap the forefinger over the guard, see what feels most comfortable for you.”
As she went through the first sequence of a stab and slash, the young officer was impressed. She was far better than some of the farm boys who had decided to try their lot at the soldier’s life. Her motions were fluid, and she stayed in balance, but something was lacking. “When you swing that sword, you must commit to what comes with it. It is a weapon, and it brings death with every blow. You have to mean it when you strike, be strong in your resolve and in your body, or you won’t survive, and it would be a true shame for such a lovely woman to die. Again, thrust, forehand, and then add a backhand. Mean it this time, strong resolve and stronger arm.” He was softer than he would have been on his recruits, but his voice was still firm and commanding. The girl had talent, and he was curious to see how much he could tease out of her. If only this was not a chance once in a lifetime meeting, perhaps with more time he could make her the finest swordswoman in Greece, but they would likely never know.

“I think our approach to what we do is much the same, even if our outlook isn’t so much,” Kaia mused. It was interesting to meet someone who was not so devout as Kaia had come to expect. Even her father and uncles were god fearing men and aimed to please the gods as best as they could. Despite the differences, Kaia did not have any discerning thoughts about it. His views were his own; Kaia knew that the way she lived was not seen well by most of society, but to her it was her norm.
With the lesson underway, Kaia, focused her concentration on her stance. She may only ever have the one lesson, so she wanted to cement anything imparted on her in her memory as best she could, which was quite the ambition given how much wine she’d consumed.

Having really only ever used daggers outside of her bow, Kaia knew she liked the agility and dexterity that came with fluid motions. As such, she opted to try for the less stable of Alexandros’ suggested grips, in hopes to favour the finesse. Given the weight of the blade, she felt more like she would drop it, but Kaia pushed the doubt aside. She remembered feeling the same when learning how to use her bow.

Kaia gave a determined nod, before trying again, this time with more intent. She was wary not to put too much into it, save she stumble and injure Alexandros or herself in her state, but she also knew she needed to be able to use the sword properly if she ever intended to use it. Her assailants would not give her time to warm up in an attack, so if she couldn’t fight while mildly drunk, she could be easily blind sighted.
Focusing once more on her stance and then her grip, Kaia gave a thrust, then moved her wrist into the next position, before finally finishing off with a backhand. She felt like she lost a little bit of control on the final step, and knew that she would have lost power as a result. Kaia frowned in thought as she reflected on how to prevent that, before looking back to Alexandros.

She felt like she lost a little bit of control on the final step, and knew that she would have lost power as a result. Kaia frowned in thought as she reflected on how to prevent that, before looking back to Alexandros.
Alexandros was impressed by how well she seemed to take to the sword, perhaps it was her prior experiences that had given her such a strong baseline for these new lessons. “Better, I have seen much worse in my drill lines from the new recruits, you are something of a natural my dear.” He said in praise of her second attempt at the sequence. “You still look a bit uncomfortable and awkward, the sword should move as if it is a part of you. People should have to wonder if your hand is the end of your arm or if the tip of your blade is. Perhaps a demonstration of what I mean would be helpful.”
He went back to his chest, kneeling before it, holding the gold to keep it from falling, but placing the necklace within it. He withdrew a long sword from it. The sheathe was rather plain, but the hilt was formed from metal and shaped into a woman, which posed lewdly. He withdrew blade from sheathe and took his standard grip with the thumb and forefinger wrapped around the base of the blade. He motioned for Kaia to move off to the side, and then he began. He gave a quick thrust with a bit of a lunge, followed rapidly by a forehand cut, and then he threw a backhand just as his previous motion ended. The blade seemed to dance through the air as he moved within the small confines of the tent. He moved as if it were a performance, but each motion would have easily killed a man. He gave a small flourish, spinning the blade in a circle before he sheathed it. “What do you think? Did you learn anything from watching?” He asked curiously. “Or should I give a more hands on lesson with your next attempt for the sequence?”
Eventually, the lesson ended, and he hoped that she would remember all she was taught if the time came that she needed to defend herself with her new blade. After she put away her sword, he untied his cloak, letting it fall away from his neck first, leaving only his hips to just above the middle of his thigh covered by the white material. He wanted her to be the one to remove that last bit of cover before they became intimate. The young, well muscled man pulled his new lover close and kissed her firmly. “Do you have any preferences for how we begin my dear Kaia? Or should I take the lead?” He returned to whispering softly in her ear, knowing that she had reacted well to it before. He intended to keep whispering in her ears whether it was sweet nothing or words with more substance.

It pleased her to no end to hear that she was doing better than some of Alexandros’ own men. She understood that he could very easily just be saying so to keep her happy, but Kaia liked to think it was at least partially true.
Kaia’s absolute desire to become more skilled in combat and self defence meant that at some point in her youth, she had to accept criticism in order to achieve her goals. It was much nicer thinking she was already proficient in whatever she was doing, and the temptation to make excuses for anything less than perfect was strong, but ultimately she learned that she would never improve if she already believed herself without fault. So, Kaia was receptive to criticism and would bite back any feelings of ineptitude or frustration in a bid to actually be as strong as she desired. Alexandros’ instructions helped her cement a basic routine for her to follow in her own time when his tutelage would not be available. His demonstration—as agile and fluid as it was while never losing the threat of danger and strength—gave Kaia a visual goal to work towards as well. She could see how the sword looked like an extension of his very arm when he moved.
Before long, it was time to put the sword away. Kaia’s enthusiasm was still paramount, but she could feel it in her muscles that she was ready for a break. Pushing her golden hair back out of her face as she watched Alexandros return his naked lady sword back to the chest, Kaia knew what was about to follow. If her blood was not already up from her lesson, she may have flushed slightly at the thought of where the night would lead. Kaia set her new sword down, then turned back to Alexandros in time to see him dropping his cloak, so that only his hips were still covered. Unable to help herself, Kaia gave a sly smirk and tilted her chin up invitingly as he approached her.
The kiss that followed as he enveloped her in his hold had all the promise of the passion and desire they had been teasing each other with all night. In that moment, little outside of his tent could make it to the front of her mind. Where she had feld admittedly a little nervous leading into her first time, she was not so now. Instead, her desire and anticipation was fueling her confidence, as she knew exactly how and what she wanted to feel.
’Do you have any preferences for how we begin my dear Kaia? Or should I take the lead?’
Shivers ran down her body again as Alexandros’ warm breath brushed against her ear. Kaia—still smirking coyly—bit her bottom lip ever so slightly and leaned back enough to meet his blue eyes with her own. Wordlessly, she reached into her strophion and withdrew the sheathed dagger she kept there between her breasts. Still without breaking eye contact, Kaia dropped her dagger on the ground between her sword and the furs, conscious of where she heard it land in case she should need to locate it in a hurry later. With that sorted, Kaia tilted her head to the side slightly and gave Alexandros her challenge, “take my breath away.”

The tension that had been building between them all night with each and every joke, all the teasing words, had finally broken. There was no hiding away from it now. He had been a bit surprised when she removed a dagger from between her breasts, but Alexandros knew that they were now both ready for what was to come. He held her tightly as she looked up into his eyes, two pairs of blue orbs locked with each other, looking deeply into the other, and then she issued a challenge.
“take my breath away.”
The young warrior matched her coy smirk with one of his own. He had planned to do that from the beginning, but now he was resolved to give her a night of passion so great that it could never be forgotten. “Then perhaps we should get out of these excess clothes, don’t you think my dear?” His coy smirk remained as he reached for the hem of her garment and began to lift it away from her. The cloth had long been in the way of what he wished to see and feel upon her, and now it was finally going to come away and reveal the nature of the woman he had met. Once he had freed her from the peplos she wore, he kissed her once again. “Why don’t you go ahead and untie my cloak?” He asked suggestively as he held her close to his frame.
As his final piece of covering fell away, it was now impossible to hide his arousal. Not that it had been well hidden before. The beautiful Kaia had caused an incredibly predictable reaction in the Captain, one that she may have been familiar with. He stood before her, illuminated by the light of the candles within the tent, and felt self conscious about the one thing she had seen all night. The scar that ran from his navel to his shoulder. He shook that doubt from his mind as he closed the distance between them once more. His member was fully erect as he kissed her more firmly than any other time so far that night. He was so close to having what he wanted, but now he need to only remove the undergarments that hid her most precious of areas. His hands worked on the clothing as his mouth locked with hers. He broke away only to begin kissing softly at her jaw, her neck, and he gave a little nibble to her ear before he spoke again. “Now that you’re uncovered, I need you to lay down for me my dear. I’ll give you an experience you’ve never had before.”

’Then perhaps we should get out of these excess clothes, don’t you think my dear?’
Kaia gave a sly snigger as she nodded her head, her fingers trailing down the contours of his body. Even though his cloak still hid his manhood, she could feel the pressure of it, warm against her thigh. The sheer closeness of it made her desire coil and writhe within her.
The anticipation seemed to set her skin alight, aware of every slight touch he gave. Even as he took the fabric of her peplos in his hands, the slightest brush of his fingertips against her thighs was enough to summon gooseflesh. As the fabric came away, leaving Kaia in only her undergarments, she studied his expression, still bold from the wine. She was somewhat aware that this was one of the rare instances where she did want to be seen as desirable. She wasn’t trying to distract him while Aea or her uncles went about completing their task. She wasn’t putting up with lecherous remarks and gazes in order to steal from him. No, this time she wanted to see the desire in his gaze as he looked upon her body. She wanted to be the only woman on his mind for the night, and in turn he would be the only man on hers.
Alexandros pulled her into another fiery kiss, to which Kaia responded with matching eagerness. Her fingers soared back up his body, gliding over his scar, to rest upon his shoulders, all the while, not breaking their kiss.
’Why don’t you go ahead and untie my cloak?’
Kaia flicked her brow up at him teasingly, before trailing her fingertips back down his body ever so lightly, until they met the edge of the fabric. Kaia traced around his hips and only fully removed the garment as she kissed him again. When the kiss ended, Kaia allowed herself an appreciative glance of the naked captain before her. He truly was a striking image of strength. Each scar—big or small—spoke of his prowess in battle, as did his muscle tone and overall definition. The man Kaia had given her maidenhead to had been strong from years of labour on a farm, but Alexandros body showcased an entirely different meaning of strength.
As Alexandros closed the space between them, Kaialet one arm wrap around the back of his ribs, the other slipping over the back of his shoulders to keep her body close to his, even as he worked at removing the rest of her coverings. More than ever, Kaia was aware of the heat and pressure of her arousal against her and longed to experience it. The kiss that connected them while he undressed her was fiery and playful. Kaia had no intentions of losing momentum now and made that apparent by raking her nails down his back lightly.
At first, when the kiss broke, Kaia gave a small huff, which turned into a breathy exhale as the captain’s lips teased her jawline and neck. Unable to help herself, Kaia tilted her head to the side to allow him better access, enjoying the sensations that shot through her. What she had not expected to feel so pleasurable was the light nibble of her ear lobe. Kaia grinned at herself, relishing in the shivers that coursed through her body.
’Now that you’re uncovered, I need you to lay down for me my dear. I’ll give you an experience you’ve never had before.’
Kaia had not expected him to instruct her on what to do next, but figured that she was the one with minimal experience in the matter. Her first time had been slow and gentle, with her partner softly guiding her through the motions as her body adjusted to the entirely new experience. This time, Kaia wanted none of that delicate approach. The urgency within her to be sated was nearly overwhelming—especially when coupled with her bold, wine fuelled confidence. Pulling away from him just enough to meet his gaze, Kaia gaze another sly smirk as she took his hands in hers. Stepping backwards, Kaia led him to the fur bed, then turned and pressed for him to sit back, so that she could straddle him.
Now seated on his lap, Kaia sat herself so that she was purposefully resting her most private of places firmly against his manhood. For the moment, Kaia ignored the urge to just fully seat herself upon him and instead wrap an arm around his shoulders, her free hand coming up to cup the side of his face, her thumb brushing lightly against his kiss-swollen lips.
The look she gave him was playful and daring, fully aware of her decision to not follow his direction. She had every intention to experience what gave him the name ‘breathtaker’, but not without having him experience her too. She liked a challenge, but she also liked to be the challenger. If he wanted her on her back, he’d need to put her there.
